About

Our client is a billion-dollar multinational manufacturing giant in India that manufactures many vehicles across the globe. The leading manufacturing company focuses on building innovative and tech-driven sports utility and compactOur client is a billion-dollar multinational automotive manufacturing giant based in India that builds tech-driven SUVs and compact electric vehicles for global markets. Focused on delivering superior user experiences, the client wanted to extend their mobility offering with a Connected Vehicle Platform capability to provide seamless shuttle booking and on-demand rider services for employees and guests. electric vehicles.

Business Challenges

The client faced two core challenges that their existing systems, including earlier modules of the Connected Vehicle Platform, could not fully resolve:

  1. Customers could not reliably book or track shuttles in real time, producing confusion and missed pickups.
  2. Drivers lacked an automated route planning and dynamic shuttle allocation system, making it hard to optimize pickups, handle re-routing, or change priorities on the fly.

Their legacy solution lacked an integrated mobile workflow and the dynamic routing intelligence required for a modern on-demand shuttle experience.

Solution

We delivered an Android-centric Connected Vehicle Platform solution composed of:

  • A web admin app and two mobile/tablet apps (customer app and driver tablet app).
  • Customer UX: QR-based login for quick boarding, ride booking, live tracking, saved favorite places, and feedback (ratings & comments).
  • Driver UX: Tablet app for pick/track/drop workflows using a “first in, first serve” baseline, with the ability to change pickup priority and view rider comments. Drivers log in with mobile + password.
  • Routing & mapping: Deep integration with Google Maps (audio/video navigation) and a route algorithm that simplifies pickup/drop sequencing and enables dynamic shuttle allocation.
  • Platform glue: The work functions as a Connected Vehicle Platform module, tying telematics and mobile workflows together so dispatch, drivers, and riders share a single, real-time view of shuttle operations.

Our Approach

1
Discovery & Strategy
Conduct in-depth analysis and identified key inefficiencies.
2
Tech Implementation
Integrated AI-powered tools to steer development activities.
3
Deployment & Support
Launched the solution and provided continuous support.

Our Steps

1
Discover
Conduct stakeholder interviews, map rider and driver journeys, and document technical constraints to define how the new Connected Vehicle Platform module must integrate with existing telematics and operations.
2
Build
Develop the Android customer app, driver tablet app, and web admin app; implement QR authentication, Google Maps integration, and the dynamic route algorithm; connect telematics to the Connected Vehicle Platform for realtime state and dispatch.
3
Deploy & Optimize
Roll out in phases, monitor live telematics and rider feedback, iterate on routing priorities and allocation logic, and scale the Connected Vehicle Platform features across locations.

Outcome

The Connected Vehicle Platform rollout produced clear operational benefits (qualitative until client metrics are provided):

  • Streamlined shuttle booking and live tracking for riders, reducing confusion at pickup points.
  • Faster, more predictable driver allocations and simplified routing decisions.
  • Better customer experience through QR check-ins, saved favorites, and ride feedback.
  • An integrated feedback loop that helps ops refine routes and driver priority rules over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do automotive manufacturers build connected shuttle platforms for employee transport?

With a web admin app, customer booking app with QR sign-in, and a driver tablet app — unified by Google Maps routing and real-time telematics. The platform achieved 75% shuttle booking improvement.

What is QR-based ride boarding and how does it improve shuttle operations?

QR sign-in eliminates manual check-in friction — riders scan at boarding, the system confirms pickup, and driver workflows update automatically without paper logs or verbal confirmation.

How do driver apps handle dynamic shuttle route changes in real time?

Through a priority-aware allocation algorithm that lets dispatchers and drivers adjust pickup sequences on the fly, with live Google Maps navigation updating the route automatically.

What technology powers connected vehicle platforms for enterprise mobility?

Android-first mobile apps, Node.js backend, Google Maps integration, QR authentication, and a real-time telematics layer connecting dispatch, drivers, and riders in a single platform.
